A curl command in Linux is a command-line tool that is used to transfer (sometimes multiple files at a time) to and from a server. For this transfer, the curl command uses any of the supported protocols like HTTP, IMAP, FTP, SCP, etc. 

Curl commands are preferred for automation processes as it doesn’t require any user interaction to run.
